Venge Vineyards Scout's Honor Proprietary Red

Venge Vineyards Scout's Honor Proprietary Red is a tribute to the winery's late Labrador Retriever, Scout. This full bodied red blend is crafted from old vine Zinfandel, dry farmed Petite Sirah, old vine Charbono, and mountain vineyard Syrah. The grapes are sourced from various vineyards located in Napa Valley, California. Including the Signal Fire Vineyard and Frediani Vineyard for Zinfandel and Charbono, Oso Vineyard for Petite Sirah, and Stagecoach Vineyard for Syrah.

The Scout's Honor Proprietary Red winemaking process involves destemming the small, individual lots of fruit into stainless steel tanks and open top fermenters, where whole berry fermentation occurs over 20 days. The wine is then aged for 14 months in 50% new American oak and the balance in once used tight grain French oak; it contains 15.5% alcohol by volume (ABV). This meticulous process preserves the pure fruit integrity, resulting in a wine with rich flavors of black fruits, sweet currants, pepper spice, and a touch of barrel toast.
